What We Do

Having trained at Norland College and then working as a nanny and maternity nurse for over a decade, Sophie found her passion in working closely with babies and their parents and this was the catalyst for setting up Raise Workshops. Raise Workshops are striving to provide high quality postnatal support in the local community here in Oxfordshire and the Cotswolds.

In person classes are held in Bloxham, Oxfordshire.
Small availability for private online workshops.

Baby Massage

Our popular 5 week introduction to baby massage course is a really gentle way to ease yourself out of the house with your new baby and meet other mums. The course will give you the skills to massage your baby with confidence whilst allowing you to unwind and enjoy time with your baby. The classes are baby-led, relaxed and welcoming.

Once you have completed the 5 week course you are then welcome to book in as and when for our weekly baby massage class.

Suitable from 6 weeks until crawling.

Treasure Basket Play

Have you heard of a treasure basket before? Back in the 1940’s Elinor Goldschmied pioneered treasure basket play. A treasure basket is a low sided round basket containing mostly natural materials that a baby can explore. It is filled to the top with different objects so babies can dig in and pick objects to explore their weight, size, texture, shape and smell.

We offer a couple of weekly Treasure Basket Play hours where your baby is provided with the opportunity to explore a variety of treasure baskets whilst also being a fun and sociable hour for you.

Suitable for babies who can almost sit unaided until their 1st birthday.

Paediatric First Aid

As a parent, carer or grandparent learn to be prepared, not scared!

We offer a two hour paediatric first aid course suitable for parents, carers and grandparents. A relaxed, fun and informative course that teaches you how to deal with an accident or emergency involving babies and children.

The course covers the recovery position, resuscitation, choking, bleeding, burns, bites & stings, allergies and anaphylaxis. During this course you will learn the techniques using only the most up to date manikins that have bluetooth connectivity allowing you to see in real time how effective your techniques for CPR and chocking are.

Weaning Workshops

Come along to our 90 minute weaning workshop and discover how fun and exciting the weaning stage can be.

During the workshop we look at signs baby is ready, different methods of weaning, equipment you may need, iron and vitamins, the difference between gagging and choking, our role at meal times, how to safely serve finger foods, eating together and eating out, dropping milk feeds and allergies.

Sleep & Routines Workshops

After training as a sleep consultant and working closely with families to support them with sleep, Sophie believes gaining an understanding of sleep and what is normal sleep behaviour as early as possible can help parents support their babies sleep development.

As parents you are never more keenly aware of the importance of sleep as you are when experiencing the lack of sleep during the first few months of parenthood.

Our sleep & routines workshops are 60-90 minutes long and are designed to give you the knowledge to understand sleep and what is normal in the first year. We look at how to create healthy sleep associations and at ways to create a routine that works for you and your baby.

Newborn Care Workshops

A practical, in-depth and realistic look at what to expect during your babies first 6 weeks. Gain confidence and skills for caring for your newborn.

During the 90 minute workshop we discuss what to expect in the very first few days post birth and the basics of feeding (both breast and bottle). You will learn techniques for easy changing and dressing your baby, how to bath your baby and how to take care of their umbilical cord. We cover how to sterilise any equipment, what you may need in your nappy bag and how to recognise and learn your babies sleep and hunger cues.

A fun, relaxed workshop with plenty of time for questions and practising skills.

Ideal from 35 week pregnant until baby is three weeks old.

Mum’s (or Dad’s) Morning Off

Fancy a coffee with a friend without having to steer the buggy through the cafe, or even just time to nap and shower when you have a newborn? Sophie is available to book for four hours of nannying in your home on Thursday’s between 9am and 1pm.

Friends Round Friday

A super relaxed and friendly coffee morning for parents, carers, grandparents and their babies. Come and meet others and have a drink and sweet treat whilst your baby plays and explores.

From 10-12pm every Friday morning. Sophie will be available to chat and offer practical and emotional support as well as just a listening ear if you need.

Bring a friend or come to meet new friends in a welcoming home from home environment.
